This is a picture of the UNCW open house event on October 27th. That day was very hectic because the night before I hit a pot hole in Wallace that damaged one of the front rims of my car. I was supposed to attend the open house session in the evening but I couldn't since I had to go to a car salvage to get a new rim. It took me 54 hours to go back to "normal". That's when my car had the new rim and tire installed.
It was a learning experience. I learned that:
- Welders can fix rims but it's easier for them to work on aluminum. Of course, mine was a metal one. So it was "unfixable".
- It's good to carry something valuable with you, in case you have to leave it in a shop that doesn't take credit or debit cards easily and you have to get cash in an ATM :) I left my Canon Camera in the welding place while I was finding out if I had to get a new rim.
- Car salvage sites have a network where they can get auto parts from other places. The rim I got was shipped from Greensboro over night.
- The Department of Transportation can reimburse you for the expense you incurred if you have a legitimate claim.

  1. That's some really useful information! I never knew the DOT would reimburse for things like that, I'll have to remember that. Glad everything is back to normal now.
