Courtney Michael

Hi everyone! I'm Courtney Michael and the handsome Marine in the picture with me is my husband Nick. He is a Sergeant in the Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) and is in his 5th year of service. I Am currently in my fourth year of school but this is only my second semester at UNCW. I am from Des Moines, Iowa where I was born and raised and I recently transferred to UNCW so I could move here and finish school and be with my husband since he is finally on a break from being deployed so often. I am majoring in Elementary Education and I have my concentration in Behavioral Sciences. I love working with kids and I can't wait until we start a family of our own.

We have been married for over three and a half years and we had to wait until just last October before we were able to have a real wedding and reception. It was great to have all of our family and friends together to finally celebrate our marriage. It was one of the first times Nick was actually able to come home and stay for a couple of weeks on his post-deployment leave after getting back from Afghanistan. Here are just a couple of pictures from our wedding I would like to share with everyone!

  1. Hi Courtney,
First I want to thank your husband for all he does for our country. I know it can't be easy be the wife of a military man. I know you must worry all the time. I am glad you finally got your wedding and I'm sure it was worth waiting for. Working with children is so amazing and they always say and do the funniest things which make even the worst days o-k. I think your students are going to be very blessed to have you in their classroom.
